About
Perseid School is a new form of higher education for young people who want to take agency in their learning and develop their gifts in response to the needs of the world. By bringing together those who want to learn and those who want to teach, we are creating the context for a new and relevant form of education to develop.
To create a new world, we must change our thinking and find new ways of being, relating, and doing. While running our program, we are researching how new forms of learning can take place. We have a distinguished faculty who offer their knowledge and skills to participants looking for alternatives to the societally prescribed path. An important part of our mission is to create the framework that brings together young people seeking meaningful, alive forms of learning, and teachers who are excited to bring their lived experience, research, and questions to the next generation.
Throughout the world, young people are increasingly dissatisfied with the societally prescribed paths and seek new ways of being and doing in the world, where they can feel met and seen in their gifts, their individuality, and their entire being.
Mission
Perseid’s mission is to create space for new forms of education to emerge. We are a youth-led response to a real and growing hunger for meaning, for capability, and for responsibility in one’s own life and in the world. We provide a training ground for becoming awake to reality and a space to develop the capacity to meet the world’s complex and pressing needs with clarity, warmth, and courage. We do this by bringing together those who want to learn, teach, and co-create.
Future Vision
The goal for Autumn 2027 is to run an expanded program informed by the learnings from the pilot program, along with more developed agriculture, theater, music, art, and curative education studies. As we expand our programs, apprenticeship placements, and faculty, we see Persied school becoming an alternative “college” that supports young people in learning from distinguished teachers and in designing their own learning, while working and engaging with the local community.
In the future form, students will be able to either begin with a full-time, year-long orientation or begin with a part-time foundation training alongside an individualized track. After the first year, students will have the opportunity to dive into deeper specialization or research grounded in practical work. There will be artistic and practical classes, as well as lectures, open to the wider public.
